K8trills Studio Information

Student Responsibilities:

  • Please come prepared to perform your homework assignments, do not sight-read.
  • Please bring all music you are working on and any books that are assigned to you.
  • You must bring a flute in working condition.  Please make any and all necessary repairs if needed by calling or texting Kara Wuchner at (714) 227-5581.
  • My suggestion for practicing is to spend 5 – 6 days per week for at least the length of your lesson for the best results.  Please plan on dividing your practice between long tones, technique, etudes, solos, and any band music that needs work.   If you are a senior or planning on taking auditions for college, this should double.

Studio Etiquette:

  • Siblings and parents can stay in the room if they are not disruptive.
  • Please respect other student’s time and privacy.  Do not arrive more than 5 minutes before your lesson time.
  • If a student is late, lessons end at the scheduled time.
  • Parents, please pick up the students on time, students should not be waiting to be picked up.  The studio cannot be responsible for watching over the student after the lesson ends, as often times there are rehearsals or events that I will have to leave to attend on time.

Cancelations / Rescheduling / Make Up Policy:

  • I require a 24-hour advance notice of cancellation.  Failure to cancel on time will result in full payment, and no make-up lesson will be given.  I also reserve the right to reschedule at least 24 hours before our lesson.
  • If you are sick, please let me know, and stay home.  You may reschedule, cancel, or you may attend your lesson online.  I will also do the same for you!
  • Approved cancellations can be rescheduled, or you may request a credit.  Credits will be given as noted in the Rates and Payment Info section depending on your payment plan.
  • There are several built in weeks off during the year.  No make-up lessons are needed for those weeks.

Other Policies:

  • In the event that my studio is full, I will be happy to put you on a waiting list, or direct you to one of my student apprentices.  Upon their graduation from High School, the apprentice’s students will be invited to assume the graduate’s lesson slot in my studio.
  • If you feel you have to discontinue lessons due to financial hardship, please enquire about scholarships.  Scholarships are available to those who commit to 40 lessons per year, must demonstrate exceptional discipline, and must have a minimum of 3 months of lessons prior to submitting a scholarship application.
  • Please park anywhere in the driveway that is not blocking the garage.  There’s plenty of room!
  • Please come in without ringing the doorbell.
